PHILHEALTH BENEFITS 2009
Philhealth was born due to the recognized need to serve poor Filipinos in need of proper medicare. It was in the early 60’s when the PMA or philippine Medical Association introduced the MARIA project. This project prioritized rural areas in dire need of medical assistance – in august 1964 it evolved into the Philippine Medical Care Act – which in turn evolved into Philhealth today.
In the 90’s a more responsive government helath care act was proposed by congessmen and several important bills were passed. In 1995, president Ramos then signed the RA 7875 which paved the way to the modern Philippine Health Insurance Corporation

PhilHealth provides subsidy for room and board, drugs and medicines, laboratories, operating room and professional fees for confinements of not less than 24 hours
OUT-PATIENTS
Day surgeries, dialysis and cancer treatment procedures such as chemotheraphy and radiotheraphy in accredited hospitals and free-standing clinics.
