owwa singapore

Having worked in singapore as an IT professional for several years, going to OWWA singapore and getting my OEC exit pass was always a breeze for me. So i thought nothing of waking up at 10 in the morning to get ready and perhaps go for a leisurely sunday stroll before going to the Philippine embassy to get my stuff done -I even passed by some shops and markets to do some shopping

I got to the embassy at around 11 am and i was shocked to see a line that snaked all the way to the corner!
peeking inside the office i saw even more people applying for exit permits. I then realized that it was long time since i had done business here and the filipino OFW’s in singapore have swelled in size- what once was a sleepy embassy was now a full blown market!

suffice to say – i was number 345 for the day. This eant about six hours more of waiting.

SOME TIPS WHEN VISITING OWWA SINGAPORE

* get up early if your going to do business in the weekend – sunday is the worst day as most OFW’s will e conducting their business on thier off-days

* You Need to have all documents that they ask you to bring -I know this sounds foolish, but many people forget one or two minor documents that set them back another few hours – be though and have a checklist of what you need to bring

* bring exact change for OWWA membership and OEC pass – its $42 and $5.50 respectvely , it sometimes takes them hours to give you your change back!

* DO NOT -make the mistake of photocopying documents in the embassy, they only have one copier and the line is Loooong…
