While Asian hotels are giving its counterparts quite a competition in the hospitality industry, it is surprising to know that one actually tops them all.

According to Travel & Leisure, an authority in the hospitality industry, Oberoi Udaivilas made history by topping Travel & Leisure’s 12th annual poll regarding hotels in 2007. Among its citation from the said poll were:

Ranked 1 in Hotels: Overall
Ranked 1 in Hotels; Asia
Ranked 1 in Small Hotels
Ranked 1 in Value; Asia
Ranked 3 in Service; Asia
Ranked 3 in Value; Top 20 Hotels
Ranked 8 in Service; Top 10 Hotels

This marks the first time that an Asian hotel grabbed the top spot in the polls.

Oberoi Udaivilas belongs to the Indian company, Oberoi Hotels & Resorts. It is located in Udaipur district in the Indian state of Rajasthan and is also known as the Venice of the East.
